Park[ing] Day LA & Cahuenga Library

LAGG partnered with the Echo Park Neighborhood Council for Park[ing] Day LA at Helitrope & Melrose. We hosted seed bomb workshops all day and hung out in the kiddie pool. We were then able to use the plants from the event to create a new garden at the Cahuenga Branch Library.

Edgemont & Hollywood

Troop Member, King David, found this spot because he passes it weekly on his way to the laundry mat. We had the perfect turnout and we had much needed support from Ken at the Laundry Mat. We even found a water source! This garden was a bit of a test to make sure it stays put...we plan to return and do the entire spot soon.

Ooooo...our first Westside Garden. Also one of our first morning digs. We had a great turnout and people even brought donuts and bagels. We ended up with enough people and some extra time to clean up a spot right next to it as well.

Earth Day Dig

This might have been our best dig yet! We received a lot of support from passers-by and especially from liquor store owner, Carlos. He came out to offer us beer while we gardened and also offered to help maintain the garden in the future. Agent Tulip T and friends will be maintaining the garden.

The Big Dig

This dig was completely organized by high school GG group, The South Central Resistance. They encouraged family, friends and community members to make a difference in their neighborhood. The afternoon included workshops on How-to-Garden and Making Seed Bombs. The turnout was incredible and included LA's youngest guerrilla gardener to date, Teddy who is 2-years old. Also at the dig was a USC student film group finishing up their documentary on Guerrilla Gardening. The entire afternoon was a true inspiration.

Watering Mission
Wilton & Sunset

The garden was in serious need of a drenching so we loaded up some trucks with trash bins full of water, grabbed some water guns and hoses and had an all out water gun fight. The garden was sufficently soaked and maybe a few troop members as well!

The first mission was such a great beginning for LA Guerrilla Gardening. We had a great turnout (a troop of almost 25) and everyone worked super hard. We have been overwhelmed with response from the community and can't wait for the next mission.
